Bauman Moscow State Technical University (Bauman MSTU)
Founded in 1830 as an Emperor's Vocational School and located almost in the heart of Russia's capital, Moscow State Technical University n.a. N.E. Bauman (MSTU) was always known as an Engineering University of educational excellence, having a potential for real greatness. A long-term history of University provides many examples of creating a number of the world-known scientific schools which contributed to developing in different fields such as space engineering, heating engineering, biophysics, aerodynamics, radio physics, radio electronics, optics, laser technology, dynamics and strength of machines.The University has an outstanding faculty of 3500 men and women, many of whom are recognized for their scholarship. It numbers 350 Doctors of Science and 1800 Ph.D.s.Presently there are approximately 18000 students, concentrating their studies in science and engineering, and 1000 post graduates, working on their Ph.D. thesises at MSTU. The Higher School of Economics (HSE)
The Higher School of Economics was founded on November 27th, 1992, by an Ordinance of the RF Government. In October 2009 the Higher School of Economics received the status of a National Research University.
On December 23rd, 2010, the University received the status of an autonomous educational institution (Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation #1109 'On the creation of a federal state autonomous educational institution of higher professional education "National Research University - Higher School of Economics"').
As per October 1st, 2010, over 16 000 students are studying at the HSE. 11375 undergraduate, 2659 master's, and 587 doctoral students are studying at the HSE in Moscow. The HSE has 3 regional branches: St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Perm. The HSE faculty includes 1500 professors and researchers, among them almost 700 specialists invited as part-timers from the areas of business, research institutes, and state bodies. 345 Doctors of Science and 909 Candidates of Science work at the HSE. Over 1800 administrative workers are employed at the HSE.
